Premier League team ratings update

There are no changes in the top 9 ranking teams this week with Liverpool remaining top and Derby bottom. The most significant move is Newcastle falling to 19th place after their 6-0 loss to Man U. This may seem overdone but while they are without a manager they are there for the opposition to knock over. So, whilst the algorithm doesn’t incorporate the ‘no-manager’ status the rating does reflect the form.
Another significant move is Sunderland upwards after their 2-0 win at home to Portsmouth. Portsmouth just hang on to 5th place but they are likely to be overtaken this weekend by Aston Villa who are just below by 0.22 points. Man City are still in the bottom half of the table after losing to Everton. City face in-form West Ham at home this weekend so the model could lose there as it will no doubt find value in laying City.

Ok, I am not a better person, but I am a soccer person. I can’t believe Liverpool has a ranking that much higher that Man U?! What is this world coming to? Sorry for the rant…

Hey, no problem. You’re probably right given recent results. What might be happening is Liverpool are a good attacking force but it doesn’t translate to wins as it does for Man U.
