Betting tips 30 March 08

betting tipsGains yesterday despite my negative expectations. There are 2 big games today which could move the funds by a large percentage up or down. Today’s Premier League betting tips are shown at the bottom of this post with matches discussed below.

Chelsea v Middlesbrough. Chelsea still have Man U to play at home on 26 April so the race is still on if Chelsea win here today. There is still a small amount of value in backing Chelsea but alot more on the outside bet of backing Boro. Back Chelsea.

betting tipsWith no material bets backing favourites to speak of, today could be a very disappointing outcome. Coupled with the usual lay bet against Derby who could see their second win of the season losses could be big. Most of the value in today’s odds are in backing away teams which the funds don’t do. I will take a look at that again this week and try and add those bets to the armoury.

Another positive week for all 3 funds. The Aggressive Fund made progress in catching it’s target and is now 103 days behind target. The Balanced Fund and Trading Fund are 29 and 86 days ahead of target respectively. The return on staked investment for the Balanced Fund is currently running at 11.2% which reflects the quality of it’s earnings. Unlike the Aggressive Fund which earns more of it’s profits from stronger teams the Balanced Fund earns it’s profits equally across all teams and therefore has a higher yield.

betting tipsAnother profitable Saturday with all funds posting gains. I was most pleased with the Sunderland win as the algorithm saw value in the Black Cat odds. However, there is currently no backing of away teams as results are not consistent enough. Previous incarnations of the algorithm would have likely had Sunderland at wider odds and layed at the market odds of 7.4 leading to a fairly hefty loss.

Today sees the Big 4 earning Sky a few more shiny coins in ad’ revenue. Graphics, whizzing noises and the candid opinions of Andy Gray; what more could you wish for on an Easter Sunday.

betting tipsFurther gains were had for all funds from the 2 midweek games. It’s all going rather well right now. If the rest of the season goes as well the Funds will be well on their way to achieving the £1million targets. I’ve been dusting off the Bundesliga algorithm and hope to have this fully tested and ready to go for the start of the 08/09 season.

betting tipsCouple of the big guns playing tonight. Man U look to extend their lead over Arsenal while Chelsea could move above Arsenal if they can knock enough past Spurs. Apart from Bolton there’s not much value in the market’s odds tonight which is disappointing.

All the odds look too short apart from Bolton where there is around 70% value according to the algorithm. There’s no back bet here though and the Trading Fund takes a different view backing the favourite and laying Bolton.

Plenty of games and good results has given all 3 funds a boost this week. Good to see the Aggressive Fund making ground on target since the overhaul. For now the Trading and Balanced Funds are well ahead of target but they will need a cushion to make up for the lack of games over the summer months.

betting tipsAnd on to the final game of this week. It’s been a great set of results this week so far with just 2 minor losing games for the algorithm funds.

Birmingham v Newcastle. The Blues are just above the drop zone and will see this as an opportunity to pull away from Fulham and Bolton. Meanwhile Newcastle are going to find themselves dropping below Birminham today if they lose. Can Kev finally rally the troops?

While Birmingham’s form isn’t great the Toon Army’s is even worse. Home win, back the Blues and lay Newcastle.

betting tipsAll 3 funds were up again yesterday. Arsenal couldn’t manage 3 points yet again at home but always seem to be able to muster that late goal. No other surprising results though Man U had to rely on a late enough goal to beat Derby. Perhaps the algorithm odds of a draw weren’t so strange after all.

Today the Wigan game looks well priced but there is value on both Fulham and Man City. Today’s Premier League betting tips are shown at the bottom of this post with matches discussed below.

First a mention of the midweek games. 3 out of 3 winning bets for all 3 funds. Even though the funds went for a different result on the Villa v Boro game they all came out trumps as the draw suited everyone. That means all 3 funds are in profit. The Aggressive Fund is slowly catching up with it’s target; the Balanced Fund is just above target and the Trading Fund is way ahead of target.

I’ve actually adjusted the Trading Fund to take a less agressive approach so gains will not be so high but of course this means less chance of a blowout (a la Northern Rock, Bear Stearns, Carlyle Capital, et al!).
